Featuring: The Tantrum Throwing Alarm Clock...

Imagine you are sleeping soundly...suddenly, right next to you, there's tantrums right next to you...

It's none other than the 'Tantrum Throwing Alarm Clock' by Hammacher Schlemmer... hit the snooze button too many times and you'll get it from this little thing! All you need are hour AA batteries to get it running or just plug it on the socket. Loud and noisy...just the thing we need to quickly get out of bed so that we won't be late for class, work or any appointments...

Featuring: Someone I recognize!

I've just promised my friend Sibylle that this is her news! I'm just the person projecting it to everyone else. :) While online chatting with her (she's in Beirut, I'm in Singapore), she told me that a former classmate of mine was featured in 'The Sartorialist' section of Vogue.

This is Joo Hyun Ha who was majoring in accessories Domus Academy, Milan (same year but different department from me) and recent participant of ITS#Seven.

Her works from this page: http://www.itsweb.org/jsp/en/collectiondata/collectionID_7_talentID_252_conctype_1.jsp (click on the images for an enlarged view).

Also a tiny preview of her work on this link: http://www.domusacademy.com/master/accessories%20design/project%20gallery/1
.

I've seen the bags she submitted and I was so amazed that I told her when she release her own line of bags, I'll be her first customer! Well I guess I will have to stand in queue when that time comes!

Alright, I'll give you a little teaser of what one of her designs look like...

A huge thanks to Sibylle for telling me this! :)

Own Creation: What I did with a little leftover material...

Just wanted to post something which I made which parts of my old jeans. I am halfway making a vest of of my old jean since the jeans has become way too loose for me to wear and didn't feel like altering the fit.

This 'flower' are made of just a series of strips which I folded and gathered (loosely). I intend to either frame it up or use it as a brooch. We'll see!

Featuring: Culture Push

Culture Push (www.culturepush.com) is a Singapore based website which interviews designers and artists from Singapore. The website also gives an update on what's interesting in the design realm (locally).

Check out the article where I've just been featured (yes, I'm pretty excited although some may think it's a minor thing!): http://culturepush.com/2008/09/21/done-spotted-lixian-lisa-teng/

Front page of Culture Push (published: 21-09-2008)

Check out the other entries as well. I never knew how many designers in Singapore there were until I saw this website!

Thanks for featuring me Michelle!

What were they thinking?: Shoes for the rainy season....

Almost everywhere seems to rain these days. My friend from Paris said it's raining on some days... Here in Singapore, it's been non-stop rain then sun-shine in one day!

I guess designers has been anticipating rain for a while which was why these shoes/shoe protection were conjured up since last year...

High Tide Heels (Hmmm, I've been scuba driving before and I have to walk backwards on sand in flippers....) Click on the link on the bottom of this entry since the original website link is missing.

One boot I saw at the shop window in Milan (near Corso Como) last year...

Hmm, I wonder if I would go all the way to protect my feet from the rain and puddles...

Yup, indeed, as the headline mentioned, Aardman's Wallace and Gromit are in designer wear...for the poster campaign for UK's Harvey Nichols. The campaign is to promote the opening for the branch in Bristol. The advertising campaign is created by DDB London with photography by Giles Revell.

Wallace is styled in Paul Smith while Gromit wears a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses and purple silk scarf by Duchamp

Lady
Tottington is styled in Alexander McQueen, Christian Louboutin (love the shoes!) and Zagliani.

Wallace is styled in Alexander McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana and Giorgio Armani while Gromit wears navy silk Paul Smith scarf.

Making of the Campaign

Now who would have thought they would sport a sharper look?

Preview: One 'Western Spaghetti' Coming Up (with alternative ingredients)

It's been a long time since I've seen any stop-motion animation feature since Wallace and Gromit. I saw this video 'Western Spaghetti' by PES from the blog, 'Apartment Therapy' and thought I should share what I watched here.

I love how they used these alternative 'ingredients' into this 'spaghetti dish'!

Everyone’s talking about H&M...

There are many other websites mentioning about the collaboration with H&M and Comme des Garcon since April.

Here is a little gist. This fall (November 2008), the Comme des Garcon line will join the list of past contributing collaborators such as Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Victor and Rolf. The Comme des Garcon collection will release to the public limited to certain cities.

I doubt I have to elaborate any further…as many other great websites have already mentioned about the arrival of the collection. Here are a few website to mention:

That's Chic:
Raych’s has her personal observations about the collection that contains the photos that has leaked out. http://thatschic.blogspot.com/2008/08/collaboration-between-h-and-cdg.html

Fastionista:
The sneak peek from ‘W’ magazine (issue will be out on the 19th of August (in the US) with comments from designer Rei Kawakubo. http://fashionista.com/2008/08/comme_for_hm_-_a_sneak_peak.php

Selectism.com:
The website provides better views (or for my case better loading time) of the garments. http://www.selectism.com/posts/archive/2008/august/15/comme_des_garcon_for_hm/index.htm

Respectfully Yours:
Some opinion about what is seen from the photo leaks of the H&M collection wondering: when looking at comme de garcons' fall 2008 ready-to-wear, i can't help but wonder - what happened?’ http://ryours.blogspot.com/2008/08/comme-de-garcons-for-h.html

Style Bubble:
Some comment and what outfit Susie has her eyes on. http://stylebubble.typepad.com/style_bubble/2008/08/you-go-away-for.html

What's my opinion?

I’m a little skeptical about this men’s wear outfit…is it just me or does this look like it came from a sleep wear set?

The styling element of this ensemble catches my eyes. At least the polka dots aren’t as dull as the men’s ensemble mentioned. Perhaps I like it because of the way the scarf is tied around the neck.

I have my eyes on these two jackets. I like the way the shapes and asymmetrical proportion is played around (left) and the placement of the zip (right). However I’m pretty sure I will not be able to get it since there is no H&M in Singapore. Oh well… wishful thinking! Ha ha!

Eyeing on and loving it (Samsonite Handbag)...

Indeed it has been a long time since I updated my blog. It was hard to capture street style photos in Shanghai since the people there walk really fast and also, my camera is really kind of old...but it doesn't mean I will not post it. Give me time to sort out my photographs!

Meanwhile, I just wanted to say I LOVE (with huge emphasis) with this messenger bag from Samsonite...

'Half moon handbag' from the collection 'Concertine' (Samsonite Black Label)

I love this bag is it is collapsible and I can use it anywhere in the world. However, it's a little out of my budget since I don't have any proper income...

More about it on this blog: http://mafrangine.blogspot.com/2008/08/luxury-traveler.html or http://www.samsoniteblacklabel.com/collections/concertine/half-moon-handbag/prodconcertinehalfmoon.html
